RESEARCH COMMUNICATIONS

I focus on research and data communications, create communication strategies, and engage in projects and collaborations with the likeliness of contributing to societal progress. I combine experience in storytelling, research and journalism, in delivering classes, workshops, and lectures with advanced digital skills.

RESEARCH-BASED INTERVIEWS

The masters of journalistic interviews, such as Teresa Torańska, Orianna Fallaci (the middle stage of her works) or Svitlana Alieksijewicz (whom I eventually interviewed myself) have fascinated me since late childchood. Transferring this form of communication to the field of science is the greatest challenge and pleasure for me.

MORE

Research-based interviews help to look at the discussed issue from a broader perspective, use understandable metaphors and examples, and carry out more interactive content. They are useful tool to open research.

INFOGRAPHICS AND VISUAL COMMUNICATION

I use simple infographics and illustrations as a tool for data visualization. I also create animations or complex, interactive layouts.

PODCASTS AND VIDEOS

I see podcasts to as a powerful tool for promoting research and educating.

  • I produced and created promotional videos for the News Literacy project I co-created. Some examples below.

Video 2 (PL): News Literacy: warsztat krytycznej analizy mediów – YouTube

  • Why Study at Brunel? series of videos – production and promotion. 8 videos, that circulated well on various social media platforms.
  • Promotional video (+ branding, design and promotion for “Kimposium: The sequel” conference)

WORKSHOPS, CLASSES AND TRAININGS

Digital communication can be complementary to face-to-face meetings and panels. I am also savvy on this site of communications.

  • I conducted classes with students on visual communication, sustainable development, communication in public safety and many others.
  • I led trainings and lectures on publication in Political Studies Review, while also promoting less known forms of scientific articles as the Null Hypothesis or Early Results.
  • I deliver trainings and workshops for researchers on contacts with the media and the use of social media.
  • I facilitated debates on gender equality in science and – recently at the University of Oxford – on sustainable development in Polish science.
  • I delivered lectures for over 500 people, as well as small talks at scientific conferences.

ART AND PHOTOS

The juxtaposition of a scientific subject with a simple picture or piece allows enables more complete cognition.

DIGITAL PLATFORMS

I am lucky enough to have gained a set of skills sufficient to build on my ideas. I develop websites (based on WordPress, Drupal, Contensis, and basic programming) and organise interfaces (UX principles), and thanks to my passion for visual communications (I work on Adobe programs, mostly) I can create impressive and original branding designs for various scientific or informative projects and socially engaged initiatives.

R/EVOLUTIONS: GLOBAL TRENDS AND REGIONAL ISSUES

I created this project from scratch in 2013, putting an unimaginable amount of time, work and heart into it. While being a postgraduate student in Poland, with 3 friends of mine, we noticed that our country lacks scientific journals dealing with the latest political and social challenges, that would be published in English and in an appealing way (in terms of content and design).

MORE

So we started a journal. And I also developed its branding, communication strategy, created a website and designed interactive layouts. I was responsible for the promotion. I also served as an editor.

We managed to publish amazing issues, with visionaries like Judith Butler, Zygmunt Bauman and Kirsten Johnson, whom I was able to interview. We described social phenomena such as the precariat, the Maidan in Ukraine, the Arab Spring, and the evolution of BRICKS countries.

Our editions were visited by tens of thousands of readers from all over the world. A review of the first edition went to the New York Review of Books. All this for the idea, without a penny of funding.

POLITICAL STUDIES REVIEW

Political Studies Review is one of the flagship journals of the Political Studies Association. As I am strongly committed to research dissemination, I created a comprehensive communications strategy and branding for the journal. I built the website that serves as a hub, gathering all information about the journal and interactive contents.

MORE

These include step-by-step publication toolkits, events and workshop announcements, as well as interactive content that I create and produce (podcasts, research-based interviews). Effects? Quality research and content, tens of thousands of downloads and tripling the impact factor.

SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE

This is a project created in response to probably the most turbulent year I’ve ever witnessed. When in February 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine, living in London, I was able to help refugees from Ukraine, including my friends, only for a few weeks spent in Poland these days. I created this website (as well as branding and design) as a response to inquiries and my own thoughts in this regard on how to help Ukraine remotely.

MORE

It is based on a simple search algorithm gathering a list of established aid organizations or initiatives in Ukraine, Poland, and other countries that support Ukraine. The user can easily find, learn and support aid projects that suit their preferences the most.

RODZINY BEZ GRANIC (FAMILIES WITHOUT BORDERS)

Starting in August 2021, thousands of people have come to Belarus to get to the EU countries.

I created this website in collaboration with a group of dedicated people. The challenge was to create the simplest, unambiguous messages in many languages, warning about the situation of people who want to decide on this trip.

MORE

Pushed and deluded by Aleksandr Lukashenka’s regime, they decide to cross the Polish-Belorussian border illegally, condemning themselves to a harsh, sometimes many-week wander through the Białowieża Forest.

This project taught me not only about transparent, targeted communication, but also about the power of cooperation and sharing skills with committed people.

TEATRALKA

This is a website and branding for Teatralka, my family’s business in Poznań, my hometown. This street food point is an iconic place on the map of the city. When creating the communication strategy, I also took into account the historical fabric in which this point is inscribed. A lot ow warmth and good memories as well.

APEL HUMANISTÓW

I had the honour of both co-creating the Apel Humanistów project and preparing its communications strategy and website. The idea of the Project is to connect scientists, especially in humanities and social sciences (which makes it a more challenging task) with policymakers. An amazing, formative experience of working with the brightest Polish minds in the field of humanities.

WORKSHOPS, CLASSES AND TRAININGS

No means of communication can replace direct contact and cooperation.
